In After Affects you have a drop down tool called transform tools Which allow you too, Position, scale, Opacity and rotate and object. in this picture here we used all these to create this animation (go to sample to see it).
with the Position tool you can move abject and make it glide across the front or the back. For example we moved the background in this animation to give the illution that the ufo and the plane was moving.
with the scale you can change the size of an object and decide how quick you want it to change.
With the opacity tool you can alter the transparicy and how fast it changes. Rotation speaks for its self you can Spin an object around and at different speeds. All these tools work together and this allows you create a nice animation.

Pupit pins

This is also a tool in after affects. This is the key to giving things a more realistic look, it takes alot of practice and is hard to get your head around. If you look at the dancing can in my samples you can see from the screen shots that i have placed pupit pins in the can and synced them to the music. How it work? you bring an object into after affects and then place pins the the limbs and you have to play around where you want them to get what affect you are looking for.
